Like every other year, 2022 had its fair share of ups and downs. One of the most enthusiastic changes, on a global level, was that the Covid-19 virus strains weakened. As a result, most of us could get back to our pre-2020 lives – offices, schools, colleges, public transport, etc..
With a few lessons learned, homo sapiens were back with new josh and vigor to take on new challenges. That was one positive thing that happened in 2022, thank God! Enough of staying indoors, spending hours glued to the TV or the blue screen.
What else happened in 2022 that made us feel a little better, smile with hope, and cheer with positivity? Let’s revisit a few such memorable events.
An Indian was elected as the Prime Minister of the UK
For India, the appointment of Mr. Rishi Sunak as the PM of UK, a man of Indian origin, was a joyous event. Also, Mr. Sunak at 42 years is the youngest PM of the UK since 1812. While there has been an increased awareness about diversity, equality, and inclusiveness internationally, in the corporate world, Mr. Sunak’s appointment heralds a new era in the global political scenario, opening the doors to a new inclusive, and diverse world.
This is Possible Only Within the Sports Fraternity
In London on 24th September 2022, during Roger Federer’s farewell on the court, both Federer and Rafael Nadal are seen shedding a tear or two.
This moment has been captured for eternity, not because an opponent was bidding goodbye with tears instead of celebrating but because it is such a beautifully poignant moment where these two great players showed to the world that our emotions and sentiments are what make us humans. Also…men crying in public? Proves that tears are not gender and stereotype dependent!
Neeraj Chopra Does the Country Proud Once Again
After becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic Gold Medal in Javelin in 2021, Neeraj became the first-ever Indian in sporting history to win the prestigious Diamond League Trophy in 2022 in Switzerland. Watch it here:
Crashing Into an Asteroid to Save Humanity
In the first-ever incident of its kind, NASA conducted the ‘Double Asteroid Redirection Test’ or DART Mission to nudge the trajectory of the asteroid Didymos. It was an experiment to see if this can be done in real-life scenarios to save the Earth and humanity from comets that have the potential to become planet-killers.

Stranger Things Creates an Immersive Experience for Viewers
Season 4 of the highly popular sci-fi horror drama was released on 27th May 2022. Known for its interesting experiential marketing campaigns, it was expected to go further this year. They didn’t disappoint. A day before the release, here’s what they did:
A lifelike creature from the series appeared in Australia on Bondi Beach.
The same image appeared on the façade of the Empire State Building and was projected on the Menara Tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
All of this proves how the team is committed to its marketing campaigns and how marketing tools can be used to create the desired hype.
That’s all for today! There were many more impressive events in 2022 but these eight caught our attention.
